To enter a search query into Kamous, just type in a few descriptive words (keywords/terms)
and hit the "Enter" key (or click on the "Search" button), and you will get a list of relevant web pages.
Since Kamous only returns web pages that contain all the words in your search query,
refining or narrowing your search is as simple as adding more words to the search terms you have already entered.
Your new query will return a smaller subset of the pages that were found for your original "too-broad" query.
To get the best search results, it is important to choose your keywords carefully, keeping in mind the following tips:
Try the obvious first. If you're looking for information about London, enter "London" rather than "cities".
Use words likely to appear on a site with the information you want.
"Luxury hotel London" gets better results than "nice place to spend the night in London".
Make keywords as specific as possible. "Learn English language online" gets more relevant results than "Learn languages".
Automatic "and" Queries
By default, Kamous only returns pages that include all of your search terms.
There is no need to include "and" between terms. Keep in mind that the order in which the terms are typed will affect
the search results. To restrict a search further, just include more terms.
Automatic Exclusion of Common Words
Kamous ignores common words such as "the" and "about",
as well as single characters (digits and letters) and double characters,
because they tend to slow down your search without improving the results.
Kamous will indicate if a common word has been excluded by displaying details on top of the search results.
Kamous searches are NOT case sensitive. All letters, regardless of how you type them, will be understood as lower case.
(Stemming) Word Variations
To provide more results, Kamous uses "stemming" searches.
This means that searching for "club" will yield pages that include the exact word "club"
and pages that include words such as "clubs", "myclub" and "clubing".
This "stemming" option can be disabled in the Advanced Search form.
By entering a more accurate keyword and disabling the "Stemming" option,
you usually get less, but more accurate, search results.
